Project Description
DEDICATED was an R&D project and part of the RACE/Telematics program of EEC. In particular, it belonged to the DELTA subprogram (training).
DEDICATED aimed at the installation and European-wide connection of so called Local Training Centers (LTCs) as local centers of training excellence. The concept of LTCs allowed to introduce Advanced Learning Technology to the training in multiple CAD application areas on a European Community wide basis.
The project mainly focused on the following:
- The development of a Modular Training System, an environment to support course design and delivery, clearly distinguishing between the aspects of interoperability on the platform level, exchangeability on the level of learning material and courses and support on the level of learning strategy.
- The prototyping and testing of courses, by developing a network of demonstration and proliferation facilities, addressing a large and growing user community.
- The presentation of courses were based on multimedia material.
The DEDICATED project contributed to the development of tools for tutoring, monitoring, and help in wide area human networks. Another research topic was the development of teaching tools that provide a powerful environment for the interactive communication between learner and teacher.
